Description

NPN Slot/Fork Photointerrupter Sensor EE-SX672WR
The EE-SX672WR is a slot-type (fork) photointerrupter sensor with an NPN output. It is suitable for detecting objects passing through its slot. Its compact design facilitates easy installation for piece counting, positioning, and feeder applications.
The EE-SX672WR is an optical sensor featuring a slot or fork design. It incorporates an infrared LED (IR LED) as the light emitter and a phototransistor or photodiode as the receiver, positioned opposite each other across the slot. When an object interrupts the light beam passing through the slot, the sensor’s output state changes. This model provides an NPN open-collector output signal. Therefore, to obtain a standard logic signal, a pull-up resistor connected to the system’s +V supply is required. This configuration ensures convenient integration with PLCs, microcontrollers (such as Arduino/ESP32), and other digital logic circuits.
Materials & Construction: The housing is constructed from a heat-resistant engineering plastic, offering durability for general industrial environments. The sensing slot is engineered for mechanical precision and maintains a compact profile, making it ideal for panel or rail mounting.
Connections (Typical):
- Brown = +V (Typically 5–24 VDC)
- Blue = 0V (GND)
- Black = Output (NPN open-collector) — Requires a pull-up resistor when interfacing with TTL/PLC circuits
Installation: Mount the sensor by securing it in a position where the slot is aligned with the direction of object movement. Ensure proper alignment for accurate detection by having objects pass through the center of the slot. Evaluate clearance to prevent mechanical interference.
Recommended Applications: Object counting on conveyor belts, detection of thin materials (e.g., foil, circuit boards), label printing machinery, and feeder systems.
Maintenance: Periodically clean the sensing slot to remove dust and oil residues, ensuring consistent performance.
