The FF–U670-1 photo interrupter sensor is an object detection sensor that operates using an internal Infrared Beam Detection principle. It features a central gap designed for objects to pass between the emitter and receiver.
When an object moves through the infrared beam, the sensor immediately outputs a signal, allowing the control system to precisely and rapidly detect changes in object position or movement. This makes it ideal for automated control systems in production lines, part counters, or position verification systems.

Operating Principle
- The sensor integrates an internal Emitter and Receiver** positioned opposite each other in a U-shaped fork.
- When no object is present in the fork gap, the infrared beam travels unimpeded, and the sensor is in a “no detection” state. When an object obstructs the beam, the sensor interrupts the light transmission and outputs a signal to the control circuit (e.g., PLC, Relay, or Controller). This enables the system to recognize the change and execute programmed actions such as counting, stopping conveyor belts, or altering operational status.
